Although it’s been over two years since the former State Senator and ex-Marine lost his battle to cancer, the Credit Union, of which Cawley was vice president, waited until moving into their spacious new quarters at Boston’s One Center Plaza to hold a formal ceremony on his behalf.
“We knew we would have a large boardroom overlooking City Hall Plaza,” said Credit Union Director Jack Morrissey. “We decided to wait until the transition so that we could honor Bob by naming our boardroom after him. Bob had been a member of the Credit Union’s Board of Directors for 25 years. He was our biggest promoter in expanding our membership throughout the Commonwealth. He took great pride in helping retirees, of which he was one himself.”

Members of the State Retirement Board were also present for the ceremony. “It was sort of a dual recognition by both the Credit Union and the State Board,” said Credit Union officer, Ralph White. A large contingent of Bob’s extended family, led by his wife Pat, were in attendance for the honors.
