JANUARY 2002
- When the House and Senate adjourned on Thanksgiving eve, it signaled
the cessation of all formal legislative activity for the remainder of
the year. Most legislation came to a standstill during the lengthy
budget process and will be taken up when the Legislature returns in
January for the second half of the 2001-2002 session.
The
House and Senate did schedule a one-day formal session on December 5,
to take up overrides of expected vetoes by Governor Swift. The
finalization of the newly drawn congressional districts was also slated
to be voted upon that day.
House and
Senate leaders can call for a formal session at anytime, if
unanticipated circumstances arise. However, this is considered unlikely.
