MARCH 2001 -
As we have been reporting in recent editions of the Voice, the
Association is working with the state's Group Insurance Commission to
develop a retiree dental insurance plan. Since this will be the
Commonwealth's first venture into dental benefits for retirees, a great
deal of time and effort are being put into developing the plan.
At
press time in early February, the GIC and consultant Boston Benefit
Partners are in the process of distributing a survey to some 5,000
retirees. The survey is necessary to solicit the input from retirees as
to the plan design. Details as to what the plan will cost, along with
the benefit details, will not be known until after the survey is
complete and competitive bids are solicited.
"If
a member receives a survey they should take the time to fill it out and
return it to the GIC," says Association President Ralph White. "The
only way we are going to get this process done right is with the
participation of our members. This is your opportunity to give the
state your opinion and help design this dental plan."
