Dental Survey: Initial Results Show Strong Interest PDF Print E-mail
MAY 2001 - For the past several months, the Association has been working closely with the state Group Insurance Commission and the consultant Boston Benefit Partners to develop a retiree dental/vision plan. A key component to this work is a survey of retirees, which is nearing completion.

As of press time, the results from the 5,000 piece survey were being tabulated and analyzed. What is known from the preliminary results is that a very strong interest exists in creating a dental/vision plan.

What has excited the consultant, is the extraordinary response rate (45%) to the survey. Typically, a 10-15% response rate is typical of such a survey. The higher rate will better enable BBS to accurately analyze the data and report back with a suggested course of action.

“Having the survey nearly complete is very good news. Now we can move forward and see what type of plan is feasible,” says Association President Ralph White. “This has become far more complex and time consuming of an issue than any of us had imagined a year ago. Therefore, I am not sure anything will be in place by this July, like we had originally hoped.”

A complete report on the survey findings and the BBS findings will be included in the July newsletter. Until then, no further details on plan specifics will be available.
