Congressmen Kevin Brady (R-TX) and Richard Neal (D-MA) filed HR711. The bill now has 40 cosponsors – 23 Republicans and 17 Democrats, including all 9 Massachusetts Congressmen.

“Right now the biggest question on everyone’s mind is what the leadership structure of the House will become following the resignation of Speaker John Boehner ,” says Legislative Director Shawn Duhamel. “It appears the Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) will likely lead the house. While it’s encouraging that he’s from a non-Social Security state, it is far to early to predict what the agenda of the House will be in the future.”

Association officials anticipate visiting Washington this fall to take part in talks surrounding HR711.
