Succeeds Association Founder Ralph White

The following is special message from Association President Frank Valeri:

Yesterday the State Retirement Board announced the results of the election to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Ralph White, who decided to step down after twenty years as your elected representative.

I am happy to report that, with your help and support, I have been elected as your new retirement board member with just over 56% of the vote! My three-year term begins once I am sworn in this January.

The support I received from my fellow retirees is amazing. I am humbled to be chosen by you to succeed Ralph and will work hard each and every day to meet the example he established through his many years of dedicated service.

I am also grateful for the endorsements I received from several key active employee unions including the AFSCME, Mass. Corrections Officers, NAGE, SEIU Local 589 and the State Police Association of Massachusetts. Our Association counts these organizations as allies when it comes to fighting for pension and retiree healthcare benefits.

As has been the case in past elections, turnout amongst retiree voters far exceeded that from active employees. This fact reaffirms the tremendous impact retirees can have when we work together for our common benefit.

In addition, the State Retirement Board has released updated information on its new member services being offered online. Further information can be found on the Mass Retirees website by clicking here.

If I can be of any assistance to you or any member of your family who is an active state employee with retirement questions, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

Most gratefully,

Frank Valeri
President
