Special Plymouth Area Meeting Tuesday, August 19th

On Tuesday, August 19th at 11:00am we will be hosting a complimentary continental brunch at the Radisson Hotel Plymouth Harbor, Located at 180 Water Street, Plymouth.

Frank Valeri, our Association’s new President will chair the event. Frank has greatly energized our Association since assuming office and is looking forward to sharing his innovative goals with you as a member.

Frank will also introduce Deb Goldberg, our Association’s choice for the office of State Treasurer in the September Primary Election. As State Treasurer Deb will assume responsibility for the $60 billion pension fund of the State and Teachers’ retirement systems along with the majority of local retirement systems, including Plymouth and Barnstable Counties. Deb is committed to fight for improved pension COLAs (cost-of-living-adjustment) benefits for retirees and survivors.

State Representative Vinny deMacedo (R-Plymouth) will also be on hand to receive our Association's endorsement for his election to the State Senate in the Plymouth and Barnstable District. deMacedo is seeking to succeed Senate President Therese Murray (D-Plymouth), who is not seeking reelection. During his tenure in the House, deMacedo has been a steadfast supporter of public retirees, often cosponsoring Association legislative proposals. He has also played a key role as the leading Republican member of the House Committee on Ways and Means.

Association Vice President Ralph White and Association Legislative Liaison Shawn Duhamel will be with us to share up-to-date progress on our Association’s legislation, including proposed amendments to the egregious Social Security Windfall and Offset laws.

We will continue to fight on your behalf for fair health insurance coverage and annual and improved pension COLAs. Your Pension will always be our top priority.
